Roles

We're seeking volunteers to fill the following roles. Please review each description carefully, then indicate if you possess the required skill and/or if you are interested in the role for this year's festival. Check all that apply.

Team Leader
Team leaders will be in charge of training and managing teams of up to ten people. Team leader groups include Site Maintenance, Venue Managers, Stage Managers, Box Office, Hospitality, Volunteer Administration, and Runners. Each Team leader will be responsible for making sure teams are working efficiently and are at their posts during shifts.
Requirements: Management experience.



Venue Manager
Venue Managers are the link between SOS Fest and the Venues that artists perform in. It is their job to ensure that everything within the venue runs smoothly. Managers must also ensure that bands are at the Venues and are ready to perform. This includes box office counts and drops, length of sets, artist and venue needs, and customer satisfaction.
Requirements: Excellent people skills, management experience.



Stage Assistant
Stage Assistants are responsible for keeping the show running smoothly and on time. These volunteers will be under the direction of the Stage Managers. Some responsibilities include: set up and tear down of Big Stages, communicating needs of manager to Artists and Volunteers, following direction of Stage Managers.
Requirements: Experience with band set up



Stage Managers
Stage Managers assist with set-up and tear down of stage equipment when required. Stage managers also maintain a clean and safe stage, and ensure that fans keep off the stages. Stage managers are also responsible for communicating with all levels of stage crew to ensure a smooth operating show. This includes sound techs, lighting, artists, and security.
Requirements; Must have experience as a Stage Manager, or Stage Assistant.



Stage Security
Stage security will ensure that patrons viewing the stage are safe and are keeping away from the backstage area while holding stage boundaries and protecting artists. Other responsibilities include crowd control and removing problematic patrons.
Requirements: Security Experience



Box Office
Box Office Volunteers will be in charge of selling tickets and wristbands at the door. They are also in charge of counts (keeping track of patrons entering the premises) ensuring that venues do not go over capacity.
Requirements: Cash Handling experience and excellent customer service skills required. Volunteers must be able to add and subtract amounts of up to 100 without a calculator, and must be very organized.



Artists and Volunteer Hospitality
Hospitality Volunteer ensure that all those working the festival are well taken care of. This may include preparing food, running water, and delivering artist swag



Volunteer Administrator
Volunteer Administrators will spend most of the festival in volunteer headquarters. They are in charge of signing in all volunteers and ensuring all volunteers are at their posts on time. Volunteer Administrators are always on hand to answer any questions Volunteers might have, and report any concerns to the Volunteer Coordinator



Runner
Festival Runners are on hand to run water, food, equipment, or to fill in for posts as the Volunteer Coordinator or Festival Management sees fit. This positions requires a fair bit of walking so comfortable shoes and the ability to be on your feet is a must!



Site Maintenance
Site maintenance workers maintain a clean and vibrant looking festival. It is their job to ensure that the festival streets are well maintained and that signage is kept in place.



Photographer/Videographer
Festival Photographers are required to shoot all aspects of the festival. We not only want shots of the bands and venue but people on the streets and SOS Signage.
Requirements: Professional photography experience is required. A portfolio and relevant experience must be submitted.

I have a current driver's license.

Please indicate if you have a smartphone (iPhone, Blackberry, etc.) with a data plan, and if you are interested in using your smartphone to validate YEG Live e-tickets during the festival.

Only a very small amount of your data plan will be used (many venues have WiFi). YEG Live will compensate you for your data usage if you use your smartphone for e-ticket scanning.
